This is the approach to the landing strip in Maimafu near Crater Mountain.  You can now understand why from a distance this would only be to be appear a small gash in the vast jungle...because it is only a small gash in the vast jungle.  Many of the houses are built right next to the strip as you can see.  The runway is only used infrequently and doubles as a communal area.
