These are some of the earlier version of the
models that were cut. Paper is cheap and quick to laser cut and
allows a lot of experimentation. Most of the models are black for
reasons that aren't only aesthetic. The laser cutter being used
isn't a professional quality machine and often leaves char marks around
the edges and quite simply, look much cleaner in black as a
result. Eventually I'll get my own higher quality cutter and the
sky is the limit in terms of color.
There are lots of ideas that will be forthcoming over time as the
program can pretty much handle any shape or surface. Most of
these objects are about 10-12" (25-30 cm.) square*. There is one
object, the one with the most planes, that is about 30" (75 cm.).
Not sure I like it or not but it was an experiment with a different
size and density.
* I say "square" but the program is written to allow for
rectangular objects with any dimensions and any number of planes in
either direction. If you're going to write a computer
program...do it right and make it variable.
