This is the finest bike
in my
collection. A NOS 1990 Klein
Attitude. Nos mean "New Old Stock, i.e. never used.
A NOS
example of this year and model is very unusual
and I'm not aware of any others outside of Gary Klein, the bike's
designer. This was my first high
end mountain bike and is a sentimental favorite of mine. It
is a
fantastic riding bike and brings back a lot of memories. This
was
the first year that Klein came out with the oversize aluminum fork
that is very stiff and very light. The fat fork is what
defines
the 1990's Kleins.
The pictures don't really convey the brilliance of the colors. It's not
unusual for people to comment what a pretty bike it is, it's that
brilliant. In the coming weeks, I'm going to work on getting
additional picture but this is what there is for now. I've
always
had a hankering for this model ever since I had
one in 1990 so
when this came up
for sale, I knew that I was going to be the one to buy it, no matter
what. When I won the bike on an Ebay auction in 2005, my
hands
were shaking. That's how excited I was to have another bike
this
after my old one. Vintage mountain bikes does that to me.
This bike is more or less a museum piece and unlikely to ever be taken
out on the trails. Some people disagree with doing that
saying,
"bikes are to be ridden." However, once a NOS bike is ridden
and
dinged, it's no longer pristine and while this bike is hard to find,
one can find a used version of this to ride. So this bike
will
remain pristine and stunningly beautiful.
