I saw this on the local Craigslist and thought I would drive about forty miles and have a look.  It wasn't sure a sure thing to buy it initially after taking one at it...it became a sure thing.  Did I need it?  No, but it was in such perfect condition, barely a scratch on it and it had a rigid fork.  He had it listed as a 1995 model but I told him it was a 1991.  He replied that some guy from California had told him the same thing.  I said, "Oh, you talked to so-and-so, eh?"  "How did you know it would be him?"  "Eh, just a guess."

I bargained the guy down a few hundred dollars.  I'm not usually the one to futz over a few dollars but in this case, buying it from a pawnshop, knowing that he lowballs people all the time, one doesn't feel bad about the last few dollars.  The guy thought he was making a killing on it and I'm sure he was but he didn't realize that I could double (or more) what I paid for it for the frame alone.  He tried to play the guy from California off against me but I wouldn't hear anything of it.  To make a medium-length story short, "I'm here with cash, he is not."

Initially, I didn't like the black-anodized brakes on it and wanted to swap them out but someone said, "Do a black-white build on it."  Well....duh!  So, picked up some black hubs and built it up.  Glad that person got to me before selling the brakeset.  There is only one real ding in it, a small chip in the clear coat, which I did (oops), but other than that, practically flawless and beautiful.
