Ok, there are some exposure
problems with this
photo. It was tricky light this morning for taking a
panorama as some parts are in the shade and others are in the bright
sun...hey, I tried. You can see the hut and an old boathouse
in
the trees. On the very left is a slip that had to be crossed
on
the track to Lake Alice. Notice the heap of trees at
the
bottom of the slip.
There is a dip in the hills at the very
right and below it is a cleft in the rocks. This is the large
crack in the rocks that had to be traversed by going all the way up
around the top of it. If you look carefully, to the right of
the
crack is another small slip. Between the terribly overexposed
mountain on the right and the knob to the left of the cleft lies Lake
Alice. Once you reach the crack, it's only ten more minutes
before you reach the lake waters. Oh, if you look down the
sound,
you can additional slips. Fiordlands is far from an
unchanging
landscape. There is
another
panorama that doesn't wrap around quite as much as this one,
but it has much better color.
