This is what much of the track near the Rakeahua
River looks like. Mud and water, mud and water. This
specific
section is actually quite moderate when near the river. I'm
usually not going to be taking pictures when the track is really tough.
One thing that is surprising about this picture is the
footprints in the mud. The track gets very little traffic;
according to the hut logbooks, no one had passed through in about a
week yet the footprints remain in the mud pits. I've seen these
old footprints in other tracks too. It might look like a
highway...but it ain't!
