Many years ago, I had a loft
apartment. I was laying on the floor, staring at the ceiling
trying to figure out where my life went so wrong, when an idea occurred
to me and I thought, "A mobile." So, I made a mobile out of
mylar, polycarbonate, fishing line, and steel. Over the years,
laser cut acrylic was added as a media as well as increased access to
machine tools and that led to new types of mobiles.
If you're interested in making your own mobiles, the technology and
techniques contains a few suggestions on how to approach things and
will hopefully save you a little time and not make the same mistakes
that someone else (aka Mr. Moose) did.
